393 cubic inch Windsor stroker kits are based on the 4.000 bore 351 Windsor engine block and a 3.850 stroke crankshaft. They are a perfect replacement for the 351 if you want the increased power and torque you get from a larger engine. Aftermarket cylinder heads and larger camshafts are a good addition to complement the increased capacity. Custom combinations are also available for specialized applications.
Flat top pistons in a 393 Ford engine will generally provide compression ratios in the 12.0:1 (58cc head) range which makes them a good option for engines with aluminum heads and larger than stock camshafts. They also work well in heads with larger combustion chambers. Valve reliefs are configured to work with most types of standard and aluminum cylinder heads and will normally fit camshafts to slightly over .600 valve lift. Alternative compression ratios are available.
